I do a aircraft type SOAP check which consist of a walk around. Check tire pressures often, fluids, make sure it is clean. I do not touch any bolts or screws other than check battery cables. Once a year I will check the lug nuts with a torque wrench. After 40 years, so good, no down time on the road.
