Going four-down is so painless that we sometimes unhook while in route just to sight see or go to a restaurant that's off the beaten path.
All we do is pull a plug, drop two pins, unhook safety chains/brake cable and run the transfer case checklist. It can all be done in under 5 minutes, and I say 5 minutes because we are taking our time and double checking as we go.
Takes an equally short time to hook back up.
I've only helped put a vehicle up on a tow dolly once and its not something I want to do while on vacation.
Now, maybe there is a carefree easy to use tow dolly out there. Someone on here will chime in I'm sure. You should find one that is easy to use, if you choose to go that way.
