Giving an accurate account of ones experiences (good or bad) with a company does contribute to this community.
Blind brand loyalty doesn't.
ScottG's above post early in this thread is a statement I totally agree with.
However, after a negative experience has been posted, especially as it relates to GS/CW, almost without fail, others who have had a negative experience will post their displeasure with GS/CW and they will post their displeasure in any thread about GS/CW. IMO expressing displeasure in multiple threads over an extended time is "piling on" or "bashing" that adds very little to the OP and contributes little to this community.
Making fun of someones positive post about GS/CW does nothing to contribute to this community.
I don't think that the Open Roads Forums rise to the issues faced by "Solzhenitsyn, the McCarthy Hearings, Martin Luther King or Nelson Mandela". It's about RVing.
While I agree that "this forum is made better by openness, disagreement, dissent and the airing of opinions about appropriate topics related to RV'ing INCLUDING the Good Sam Enterprises group of companies", "bashing" does not.
You are absolutely right that the citation I made is a bit...well, over reaching. But the point was that it is the same attitude that we see on this site about banishing people and limiting what they can say, it's that attitude that still to this day leads to banned books, banned speech and banned protest, not just here in the US but in many places around the world.
The real issue is: What is Bashing. IMO Bashing is PERSONAL, RELENTLESS, and WITHOUT FOUNDATION OR REASON. It is NOT simply that a complaint is repeated, or restated. Too often some people conflate disagreement with "bashing". Others cannot tolerate being disagreed with and thus label anything they don't like "bashing".
In the past week I have read a number of comments like the OP's throughout the forums. There are just some who do not have the self confidence to face disagreement with their personal views. They feel threatened and it makes them uncomfortable.
