Maxxfan issue....

My 5th wheel has a Maxxfan 4700k in the master bedroom. The issue I am having is the power opening lid sticks in the closed position until I manually free it then it works just fine. I initially thought that the lid was simply dirty and sticking but after a thorough cleaning and lubing of the sealing surfaces it is no better. I disassembled the unit today but found that the motor is a sealed unit so not much I could do there. Has anyone else had this issue on with there Maxxfan and found a fix? What did you do?
  • Just give Maxxfan a call on Monday. Their customer response is supposed to be great, as well as taking care of customers with older fans.
I have two Maxxair fans in my rig, and love em.

Maybe that is the problem. I spray silicone on a cloth and wipe the rubber gasket with it to prevent the lid from sticking. Maybe Dick_B was asking if you tried to use silicone to solve your problem.

    That or Talcum powder.
  • Good thought guys. Ill climb up there tomorrow and try a little silicone spray on the mating surface.
  • Gary,
Ever figure out how to fix this problem? My Fan motor runs fine but the automatic cover doesn't open I can't budge the knob to manually open it. The unit beeps when I press the remote. I'm thinking the motor is froze.

Sounds like the same issue we had. From what I recall the dealer simply replaced the cover motor and all was good. Total was under $80 ..... again from what I recall.
  • Thanks. This TT is still under warranty so I'll take it in for the repair when we get back home.
  • I contacted the manufacturer. Diagnosed as shorted motor. I gave them my unit serial number and they're sending a replacement motor to my home. The tech (nice guy) told me how to replace it. I'm glad I won't have to visit the RV dealer for the job.

Update: I have installed the replacement lift motor and all is working now.
