Maxxis Tires

Can anyone tell me where the best place to buy Maxxis tires in the NY area is? I have been on the phone for a while, as I would like to purchase at a local store vs online, but due to availability and/or price, it seems to make the most sense to buy online. I am going up a load range, therefore want to replace the rims as well, and would like to find a company that would send them mounted and balanced. I know that local tire shops do not appreciate you going in with you own tires, but none of the shops around here can get Maxxis. My current tires are 3 years old, but am taking a trip to SC in a couple of weeks and want some peace of mind; heard too many horror stories of blowouts. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Would highly recommend you consider an LT tire versus the Maxxis. I just went through this for my size of 205 75 14. Search my user name for my summary of findings.

There are no LT tires available in 14"; only good option is Hankook RA08

Actually the all position rib Kumho 857 has three 14" sizes in D load ranges.
Same with the commercial class all position U-168 Maxxis in three 14" LT sizes.

Don't forget to check the manufacture date on your new tires. ;)

Exactly! That is why I am concerned about buying online. A company I found that sells them told me they will guarantee that they won't be more than 2 years old. Makes you wonder why they are sitting around for that long to begin with. I am getting rid of these because they are 3 yrs old and don't want to chance another trip on Chinese tires. I always have to proper psi, but am hesitant taking another long trip on them.

if you have a discount tire store nearby, they either have them in stock or can get them in a few days.

Unforfunately, no Discount Tire around my area that I know of. I am going to search western CT and see if any come up there.

    Here's their online direct website:

    Discount tire direct
    Maxxis

I'm in Rochester. A few years ago I bought a set at Pep Boys. They don't stock them and tried to push Carlisle. I insisted on Maxxis and they ordered and had them installed and balanced a few days later. Price was reasonable.

Thanks, I will try searching for a Pep Boys now.
