We have about 20 game cameras at my club and they all sense on motion not heat. In fact if you set one up with any kind of even small foliage in the sensor range you will get hundreds of pictures of with nothing but moving leaves twigs whatever. The average game camera should easily pick up movement of a rodent, interesting idea.
