MICE

I seem to have some.
Went to bed last night and felt something on my back. Jumped out of bed and turned on light and saw a mouse running away.
Sort of creeped me out.
I did have a mouse about 2 weeks ago but got it with a trap. Nothing noticeable since then. However, when I checked another trap in a concealed location, there was another dead mouse, 1 day earlier, there was nothing. Eventually caught the back-runner.
Any ideas where to check for points of entry?
I have been a little careless in forgetting to lock all the outside compartments securely. That is now done and I plan to put a lot more traps inside compartments and RV.
Interestingly, There don't seem to be any attempts to get into my accessible food supply.
All sane suggestions will be considered.

  • We had them coming up the power cord. We were catching about one a day right next to the power cord in the basement. We HAD a permanently attached power cord (you know where you pull it out of that dark recess - then you have this little door with a little hole it in that an army of mice can march in)

I cut the cord off, installed a twist/lock connector in the door and sealed the door shut. No more problems.
  • The hole by the cord is a tenth of an inch, at most. No mouse could squeeze in, especially the large 2 that I caught.
  • Agree with bigB42. Had that problem living in a rented house during college. We were going thru D-Con at a rapid pace and it wasn't doing any good. I knew a guy that was an exterminator. He warned us that if we had a dog(we did) don't feed it dry dog food or at least set it up off the floor when the dog isn't eating. (That was easy - he was a Great Dane). Seems there's something in dry dog food that acts as an antidote to D-Con. Worked for us.
  • I think I found where the mice may be entering.
See my "related to mice" entry for details.
