Might need a couple of sub forums since Veterans and Retiree discussions and even disabled veterans can be very different since the priviledges are vastly different ... i.e. base and facilities access, medical and drug sources, etc. Even merchant discounts like Lowe's/HD I think need an ID (not sure if a DD214 would be accepted or a Veteran's ID). However some are the same like the Verizon wireless discount which is Veteran based. Another is the whole issue of VA medical and the Veteran's ID which I know anything about and don't really care personally. Of course then throw in the DOD civilian end like for use of FamKamps, etc. and things really get diverse and unique. Larry

U.S.Navy, Retired Mustang August 1969- November 1999. Gave myself a birthday present and retired on my 50th birthday.

DH is retired from the Navy; I was in until we learned we had little one on the way. Figured one in the Navy and deployable was quite enough. We hope to be retired state employees within two years:)

U S Navy 1957-1961. AT2. Was in VW-14 and AEWBARRONPAC. Based At Barbers Point, Hawaii and Midway Island. Spent a couple of thousand hours flying around in Willy Victors (radar Super Constellation) on the Pacific Barrier. Still dizzy from all the circles but would do it all again.
Son also was in USN for 4 years as AT3.

Drafted Sept 1969, ended up in USMC because they needed a few good men. Separated active duty in Sept 1971, then 4 years inactive USMC reserve. Honorable discharge. Semper Fi.

Retired USCG CWO3 (1981-2011). Still living the Coast Guard life via my son, who is a USCG Chief Machinery Technician. Acorns don't fall far from the tree. :c)

Veteran. USN Corpsman. 1969-1972. Balboa Naval Hospital for 3 years and then 1 year of sea duty on the USS Horne DLG 30. Joined the Navy to see the world and saw all of San Diego, Hawaii, Seattle, San Fransisco and Long Beach! Dang!

Thank you everyone for your service! I spent 29 yrs. in the Army from Vietnam to Desert Storm. I loved all of it and would go back to do it all again. Saw lots of the world! Retied E-9, SM.
