Might need a couple of sub forums since Veterans and Retiree discussions and even disabled veterans can be very different since the priviledges are vastly different ... i.e. base and facilities access, medical and drug sources, etc. Even merchant discounts like Lowe's/HD I think need an ID (not sure if a DD214 would be accepted or a Veteran's ID). However some are the same like the Verizon wireless discount which is Veteran based. Another is the whole issue of VA medical and the Veteran's ID which I know anything about and don't really care personally. Of course then throw in the DOD civilian end like for use of FamKamps, etc. and things really get diverse and unique. Larry

Retired 7 years ago from USMC after 30 years of service. Can't say I miss it.

It wasnt a green bay nanook of the north game but when they started flailing those icicle arms about it was easy to see they were gonna be paper pushers.

Hubs is active duty CWO4 U.S. Coast Guard. Just passed 26 years. 4 more years and one more move. Will be living in our RV full time where-ever we move this coming summer and our daughter and her husband will live in our house in OKC.

Thanks to all service members AND their families for serving!

It's funny how you can remember EXACTLY how long you were in.

USN: 10 yrs, 11 mos, 26 days
USNR: 14yrs, but only 9 yrs and 6 days that counted

I left the day they said I had my 20. Now I look back fondly (mostly), and would love a redo or two.

Bravo Zulu to one and all of my fellow vets! And GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY! :B

Wife and I are both Retired Army. we retired in 1991 with no intentions of ever being employed again. 22 yrs later, still unemployed and still loving it more each day! Me, Vietnam Veteran 1968, 192nd Assault Helicopter Company, Phan Thiet. HOOAH!

Retired Navy and DoD civilian also. Began fulltiming Oct. 2013. Parked at NRC Solomon's, MD. Plan to head South soon.

Retired USAF 1977 - 2001. Williams AFB AZ, Hill AFB UT, Kunsan AB Korea, Cannon AFB NM, Travis AFB CA, Sheppard AFB TX, Lackland AFB (Wilford Hall Med Ctr) TX.
