Milwaukee M12 12v Grease Gun

Found ours on eBay for $185 but this site has some reviews as well for the gun.

For one reason or another all three of our grease guns have issues. I looked a professional versions of hand grease guns but they ran $50-$100 . As I get older the more I need three hands to use a grease gun it seems. I have filled it with grease and was topping off the battery when a major storm hit. I will get to test it soon.

When under the MH the three foot hose should come in handy especially greasing the front end.

  • The problem with the electric devices like this is that the slow speed feed is usually still too high. I use a grease gun with a pistol grip so I do not need two hands to pump the grease and have one hand free to hold the tip to the grease nipple. For my truck I use a 90 degree adapter that helps get to fittings without having to bend the hose 180 degrees.

My current grease gun for the truck is a Plews 30-416 Professional Pistol Grease Gun that cost $33.65. It works perfectly and I grease the front end suspension fittings on my truck every 3,000 miles so it gets a lot of use.

An electric grease gun would not save me any time and more likely it would take more time as I would be having to wipe off excess grease at every fitting. I also would not want to overfill the rubber boots and break the dust seal which would shorten the life of the parts being lubricated.
  • It's under $120 CDN at jccayer.com for the bare tool, $160 with a battery, but not sure if they ship to the US

I figured out how to that with a hand grease gun when I was only a kid. :)

The reviews were top for this gun but there were some lithium ion problems in the first generation M12 batteries a few years ago but red ones are to be fine I read. It was the nickel cadmium batteries in the Lincolns that lead me to go Milwaukee. For $85 more I could have gone with the M18 series but did not see the need. Now Lincoln has a 20v lithium ion gun but it is not cheap.

I will only use a few tubes some years but the hand guns are a bit much to use with all of the arthritis. The backhoe has a lot of pin wear and I would like to hit it more often than I do.
  • I use a Lincoln rechargeable grease gun. Never had a moments issue with it and with my arthritis, it is a very valuable piece of equipment for me. I have a TrailAir with Tri-Glide and the Tri-Glide has grease fittings that need to be hit every thousand miles or so. Put the Lincoln on the zerk, press the trigger for 1 click (1 click=1 pump of a handle) and I'm done. Wouldn't leave home without it and when we aren't traveling, I use it on all my other equipment. No awkward positions, no needing 3 or 4 hands. One hand on the fitting, squeeze the trigger, done.

Not familiar with the Milwaukee gun, but, the rest of their equipment is good to better, so, I suspect it would be an OK unit. Look at Lincoln though before you commit, you may find a better deal and I like my Lincoln.
  • I have one, it's pretty good although a bit bigger than a regular gun. They also make an 18v version.
  • From my tech days I have a full-size pistol-grip Lincoln grease gun I load with the same grease as the wheel bearings (Valvoline GM Red.) Yes, on the lever-style grease gun you sometimes need 3 hands.
I never had much luck with either 12V or pneumatic guns.

Now, if it had been an M3 .45 grease gun, we could talk.
