My Dad is 80 and in great health, but he is out and about with his fifth wheel in many areas that do not have cell service.
He carries a SPOT GPS with him that records his location on a web map. I can log in and see where he is. No cell service required. It SPOTS him on a map every 10 minutes.
It also has a 911 feature and a "send help but I am ok" button.
Great peace of mind. The cost is also very reasonable.
