- ncfd410ExplorerI have used them in the fire service for years for cooling firefighters in rehab sections. They work. Great. The ones we have used are attached to Igloo coolers for the source of water. The one pictured from Amazon could be attached to a fan easily.
- jake2250ExplorerUse them quit a bit in CA,, Only problem with them here is they seem to clog up rather quickly,, yes we have "Hard" water in Sacramento,, I bought a cheap water filter from CW and that seems to help it last longer.. Had one of the single stand ones as shown previously,, They are good for single person cooling,, You can link two of them up,, so two people can get cool,,They do work!!!
- MrWizardModeratori used have a home made system, on my first class A
i would use 30gal of water during the day, it would almost empty a full tank of fresh water
retail systems probably use LESS water, but check the useage figures for gallons per hour
make sure you can carry enough water supply or use portable tanks/bottles if spending the weekend at the beach with NO hook ups - TerryallanExplorer II

A cool mist, Is a cool mist. No matter where you are. They use them at most all theme parks. EVEN in the humid South.
In the humid south you are cooled by the direct contact water. If you stand there you will be wet in a short time. Once you move from the misting area you will be hot and wet. The theory of the misting system is to cool you by the water evaporating. This is why they work best in a low humidity environment. You move into the misting area you get wet, as the water evaporates the body is cooled. The cooling continues as you leave the misting environment the cooling continues until you are dry.
Like as not. It makes you feel cooler. Just like when you get out of a pool, You feel cooler. Well until you dry. - jamnwExplorerI bought this for my fan, and this for my awning. I use them all the time.
We use the fan mister more than the awning.
I would say they are one of the best things I have bought for my camper.
The people who say they don't work in the humid South are WRONG. We've used it at Myrtle Beach, and at home here in East TN. They work great. - dan-nickieExplorer

Regardless of the theory, it will help to make you feel cooler, even in this Texas heat and humidity. We used a very larger water cooler in our warehouse/shop for a few years. We learned a few things.
1. using it in a closed up shop made it worse.
2. placing the water cooler/misting fan in the sun helped the evaporating process and worked very well to cool the air coming from the fans. - rockhillmanorExplorerLowe's sells a real cool mister on a stand. It is rigid plastic and spirals up about 3 feet high. Great to put next to you on a lawn chair. I also use it placed by the dogs ex-pen to keep them cool they love.
Not a real good picture but gives you the idea. - longislandcampeExplorerThanks guys. The majority of our camping is done at the beach so getting wet really isn't an issue since most of the time you have your suit on anyway.
