Mosquito repellent tests

I camp a lot in Florida and enjoy sipping on some cold ones under the awning. This is all you need to keep mosquitoes away.

It appears this one is resolved. :) Moving on....

I've been in Alaska for over 55 years using Deet as soon as I could get the stuff from military friends before it was readily available on the open market. If I hadn't used it, I would have died long ago from blood lose due to mosquitoes.......

I agree with the Moderator, while I have no scientific study to base my opinion on, I do have a real life study. I met a old Alaskan homesteader in 2000, he was in his eighties and owned and operated Tolsona Wilderness Campground. He was watching his great, great, granddaughter and she her mother and all of the family had been protected from skeeters since birth by using DEET and none of them are dying or have died from exposure to DEET.

Good fishing in the campground, best fly for grayling, Mosquito.

When I go camping I accept it's different from sitting in my central heated and A/C'd residence BUT am so not wanting to deal with the pioneer experience of biting bug life. That's when I step back into the current century and apply a minimum of 20% DEET in the evenings and soak my tent and sit by the fireplace lounging clothes in Sawyer's Permethrin Spray.

Works like a charm.

Various studies have been done that show that the amount of chemical penetration and danger is minimal to humans. Here's a link from the EPA:

When I start RVing I'll spray the Sawyer's on window and door screens and gerrymander an outdoor foyer/vestible made of fine tent mesh also sprayed w/ the Sawyer's.

When getting eaten alive you KNOW that one didn't work :S

When the little buggers leave you alone you know that's a winner....

And I didn't even need a government grant to figure it out :B

Rather than making 'blanket statements', please provide documentation.... thanks. :) A 2014 Study, Is DEET safe for kids

LOL, where did you come up with that? Over 75+ years DEET has been used by hundreds of millions of people, and that amounts to billions of doses. With no reported injuries except from a few who drank the stuff.
