Motorcycle trailer wiring issue
Hello all, new member here. I am having the most peculiar issue, and it's frustrating me to no end.
I know 12V pretty well.
Ok, I'm putting in my trailer wiring into my 2006 kawasaki. I have purchased the converter to allow independent turn signals at my local oreily, and have even exchanged it because I thought it was faulty.
Originally I had an issue with the independent signal converter not signalling brake. That was my fault, I needed to have the turn signals wired in. Not sure how that works electrically, but oh well. I got those all wired in, boom, my trailer was ready to go. In the process my turn signals on my bike in the rear went out. Fronts are fine. Rear I had nothing.
Now, bit of background, I have all LED bulbs in my bike, and the trailer is harbor freight LED kit as well. I have a matching LED compatible flasher, that claims to be rated to 20 amps. When I noticed things were out, I disassembled the turn signal assembly, I found the led had a few SMD LEDs blinking VERY very dimly. With a multi meter, its bouncing to 10-12V when the signal is supposed to be flashing. Tried with other LED bulbs, same result.
Now, even with the entire harness removed, I still have no rear turn signals. Everyone claims ground is an issue, but I never monkied with a ground here. I pulled ground for the converter off of the brake light circuit w/ a tap. Checked the fuse for the signal circuit, as expected, it's fine. I'm at my wits end. Thoughts?
