The most effective way is to find out where they are getting in. I was chasing mice in our TT this spring. I had a package of that old Decon pellets that is now illegal. I put it out on the floor. The next day I saw three pellets under the TT. The little buggers were getting in where the slide gears joined the basement. I could even get my thumb in the hole, and I've got small hands. Couldn't use foam because of the gears. So, I stuffed it with steel wool. No mice in three months. Just had to put a sticky note on the slide switch to remove steel wool before deploying slide.
