If you saved the old 'downloads' folder on your external hard drive, the install packages may still be there.

Still using my S&T 2011. Don't know what I would do without it for trip planning. Think I tried downloading that 2013 version then ran into problems registering it.

Not having a stand alone mapping/navigation app is a real pain. With S&T I do the daily destination & the route I want, plug the GPS receiver in, & away we go the way I want us to go. If we want to change on the fly, no problem. Can't easily do that with the stand alone GPS. It wants to go the way it wants to go.

An online mapping app is not much good to you when you are unable to be online off in some remote parts.

Well, somehow Google Maps figures out where my laptop is without a GPS attached. I expect it's because I have google maps on my phone and I log into my gmail account on both the phone and laptop. It's one of those cloud things. I believe the reason S&T didn't see TomTom is because I have the TomTom management software installed and that kicks in when you plug the GPS into the USB port.

I use a tablet for navigation and it runs Waze, Google maps and Copilot RV.The DW watches TomTom and follows along on a paper atlas. For planning I use google maps in terrain mode and the eastern mountain guide if I'm going anywhere near hills.

I can't believe I used to just get in a car on Sunday morning and drive to somewhere I've never been with just a paper map.

I love and miss Microsoft Streets and Trips. I downloaded the trial and hope they let me purchase it in two weeks. Any predictions?

MS lost a customer after my version stopped working. I didn't care for Streets and Trips at all. I really like the Rand McNally version I got back in 2000 from Chrysler. it was a free road Atlas and came with a free software disc. I'd like to find a new version of it.

I'm still using the 2010 version and can easily add campground and other POI datasets from the POI Factory, Discovery Owners Forum and campsite specific sites like USA Campgrounds and the Ultimate Public Campground Project. Look in the import data tab and see what formats it will accept. The 2010 version will import CVS, GPX and a couple of other file types. The 2010 version works fine for me in Windows 10. I haven't tried the GPS function with Windows 10.

Where S&T shines is for arranging trips.

May I ask what version of windows you were using?

I know the S&T works well with win 7 with a microsoft gps dongle. I tend to use it most in XP.

I don't think the devices you plugged in are compatible with S&T. When I plug in S&T does configure a USB port as a com.
