I currently have Liberty Mutual and received my invoice today. The cost has skyrocketed and we have had zero claims. Looking to insure my travel trailer, 3 vehicles and our home in Ohio. Any recommendations? When I talked to them, they reduced me by 37 dollars on ONE vehicle. They said it was an overall rate increase for everyone. Went through that scenario years back with another company which turned out to be a falsehood. Thanks in advance !

Take all your insurance needs and put them in one basket. Then take that basket to different insurance companies agents and have them give you an itemized quote. Find the one that is lowest and works best for you.They have no loyalty to you! Why have loyalty to them?

This is a very common practace with Insurance companies!!! They get you to switch to them with a great quote and then after a year or so they stick it to you.My experence: had State Farm, got skyhigh. Switch to Good Sam (GMAC).Price was HALF!!!! After first year - price TRIPLED!!!! Switched to Farmers. Price was a third less. Waiting to see what they do after a year!! Yet every company will save you $500 over all the rest. How do you figure!!!

We look every year. As said you get a good price for a year maybe 2 and then bam it hits the sky

just start calling around and do one insurance policy.look at the 'discounts' too, like the over 55 good driver exam that will give you a discount. there are others too. Do seasonal insurance on trailer?stop full coverage, increase deductibles to $1K.

I wouldn't be too concerned about throwing the trailer in with the house and cars. Definitely insure house and at least 2 cars with one major provider. Basically there are two types of customers-- those that want an agent and those that don't. If you want an agent I'd go shop 2 or 3 Independent agents that represent many different companies and toss the house and 2 cars in the pot. If you don't want an agent get used to having your email account and home phone blow up when you spend an afternoon on the Interwebs searching for deals. You can typically insure a trailer through many different companies that specialize in RV's and you can add the 3rd vehicle (use the oldest) to get a multi-vehicle discount. Ask the RV Insurance people how (or if) the awning is covered. If you're still paying for the RV ask about enhanced total loss coverage that covers the cost of the loan; ask about diminishing deductibles that reduce your deductible every year until you hit $0. Good Sam; Blue Sky; Allied are all decent carriers for RV's.

Well so far Safeco can insure my 3 vehicles and travel trailer for 500 dollars less a year than Liberty. However Liberty is 4-5 hundred cheaper than 3 or 4 others in home insurance. I guess I could split the policies up between two insurance companies. ANYONE ever deal with Safeco?

I was a commercial insurance agent and broker for many years. I can tell you from experience that you need to keep on top of your policies. The insurance company is in it for the money, not to be your friend. I shop mine every year. I want good coverage at a reasonable price, and I am not afraid to move if needed. Don't be complacent. I have had quotes for the same coverage that varies by hundreds of dollars a year.

I hope your response is better than mine was. I contacted 4 independent agents and only had one get back with me. I had to assume the rest couldn't compete since it was 3 home policies, 4 cars, 1 trailer and 1 motorcycle. I just can't imagine they just blew it off if they were competitive.

I sent my current policies to five independent insurance agents this afternoon. Will be interesting to see what the range of price quotes there will be.

I belonged to Nationwide for a number of years (and used the Farm Bureau discount too), but one year my policy shot up 40% for no reason. I have been driving for 44 years and have never had a claim filed for auto and also never had a claim for my house. I know companies don't look that far back, but it would be nice to find one company that is reputable and does not increase rates because they assume we are all too lazy to shop around.

Presently have National General on the FMCA plan. Has been great until this years renewal arrived last week. I have them cover the Motorhome and the toad which is an 08 Jeep Liberty. They left the Motorhome alone but tacked on another $300.00 for the Jeep for the year. The reason according to them is that the 08 Jeep Liberty took that kind of jump in this neck of the woods. Southwest. My policy was previously GMAC and National General took that over a couple years ago. GMAC played the same game. This convinces me that as long as we want to be a part of the RV world that every 2-3 years we are going to have to shop our insurances or suffer the consequences.

I have EMC. They have done a good good with claims and only a very mild increase. I would suggest that you look at an umbrella policy to carry on top of your RV, Auto, Home, etc. This gives you major protection in case you have the terrible accident that you hope never happens.

I had the same company for MANY years and they paid out a LOT of money over the years on repairs to my trailers and the MH on comp claims with minimum rate increases. Then I had one claim they called a collision and dropped my comp coverage. Oh and I had $250 ded and the cost was $200. I dropped them and got another company and lo and behold I just got my annual renwal info and my rates went down almost $50 a month from last year. WOW
I do have an agent and told him that I was going to drop the one company and to find me another and I think he did a pretty good job.
