Sorry to say but I would guess that with no automotive experience you are going to need a fat wallet to make that thing function. There are so many things that can and will happen to a 48 year old motor that has been sitting for nine years. Every seal, gasket and hose are suspect at this point. As noted before, the fuel filter and fuel lines are probably filled with varnish and need to be replaced along with a rebuild for the carb. Let us know how it is progressing.
