need help with magic chef stove

I have a magic chef oven in motor home. Recently, the back two top burners on the stove started to malfunction. The flames are orangish and the flames are high (6 inches). There is bad odor when cooking and pans are getting soot on bottom. Also, instead of shooting out sideways, the flames seem to go straight up when they come out of burner. Funny thing is that top two front burners are working fine - blue flame, normal height, no odor, flames come out sideways, etc. Any ideas on what the problem might be and suggestions on how to fix it? Thank you for any help.

  • Stove top gas control feeds ALL the burners.....front ones working OK and back ones acting up, then problem is with the gas feed tubes, gas nozzles on those burners.

Maybe some thing spilled or boiled over onto them.
  • thank you for all of the tips. I am going to work on getting everything cleaned up. I'm concerned that it is another issue because both of the back burners started to malfunction at once. I guess I will clean them out and see how it works.
  • In addition to cleaning the gas tubes to burners also clean the burner gas tips/slots
  • X2 the above. Have you also checked to see that the "lid" on each is seated correctly. If they have bounced off to one side it may allow the gas to exit and flame incorrectly.
  • Hi,

I found a honey bee in one of the tubes. After removal all was well.
  • Remove the two burners and clean tubes with a rod with a cloth on it to remove and thing in the tubes. Place the burners for a couple of hours in a sink of Apple Cider Vinegar. Make sure it's Apple Cider Vinegar, I've used this to clean gas burners for years!!! This will remove any build up in or Outside the burner. Let burners air dry. Rome the orifices from the effect burn controls and wipe out the inside were the orifice screws into the switch with a Q-tip. Check the orifice holes to ensure they are clean(small needle)do not enlarge the hole, the orifices can also be soaked to the vinegar. Reassembly and try.
