Hi everyone! I don't really have a question....yet! lol We've just purchased a 2016 Jayco 27.5' 5th wheel. WE HAVE NEVER OWNED A TRAILER BEFORE...we just got tired of having to find someone reliable to take care of our dogs while we go away. Now we can take them :) The 5th wheel is presently in our driveway and I take the dogs in it every day to get them used to it. I'm trying to gather up a list of what I'll need supply wise to make us comfy in our home away from home. At first, we'll be taking weekend trips to pull thru sites only until we get used to it. We live in Upstate New York so there are plenty of places within a 2 hour drive that we'll want to visit. I can't wait to take our first trip but I won't lie, I'm nervous. Any advice/tips of what you think is a definite must have, please let me know. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Gina.

Congrats and welcome. No getting around being nervous the first time out. Take it easy on the road and go somewhere close by.

One night in the driveway and your list will be made. Going into the house is easier then going to the store to get what you didn't know you needed.

Relax, you will do fine. Do not be shy asking for advice or directions from rvers, other campers around you. It is in the nature of campers, rv owners to be helpful, not judgemental if you ask. You are seeing it here, aren't you?

Thanks everyone!rk911 - we purchased a Ford F250. If we like this new venture, my husband said he wants to get a diesel pick up. We have a steep, winding driveway and the truck had no issues backing the 5th wheel up. My husband on the other hand, was a little frustrated!! lol

Out here in Washington we have the "good to go" pass system. I know that it does the axle counting and bills accordingly as I have been across the Tacoma Narrows bridge both with and without the trailer and always got billed the correct amount (darn!)

Thanks for the EZ pass info! I went to their website and I do see there is a special form to fill out to add it to my account. Still unclear if I need a tag for the FW itself but I'll await their reply. Thanks again :)

Been running up and down the east coast for at least 5-10 years with no problems.
Me. Tpk, NH tpk, Mass tpk, Tappanzee Bridge, NJ tpk, Garden State Pkwy
Delaware Mem Bridge etc.

Well - that's not what I was told at a Thruway toll booth. I have EZ pass on the tow vehicle, but not on the trailer. So, first time out I went through one of the manual booths and asked. They told me that if I didn't have the trailer registered for EZ pass I had to go through the manual lane each time. They had to manually account for the number of axles.

Don't worry about having everything you need, you won't. I like to park for lunch at a Walmart, and get forgotten items. A good time to get some walking in, use the restroom, fuel up etc.

They have stuff for lunch at the deli if you don't feel like cooking.

I have I-Pass, which is probably the same setup. Go to the EZ pass website, sign in, there should be an area to add the trailer, number of axles, and its license number etc.

Not sure how it all works, but have changed trailers/vehicles, and just made the changes on the website. I have used it on toll roads many states, and it all gets charged correctly. Somehow it knows if your trailering or not.
