New Good Sam Camping World Credit Card - Comenity Bank

To me the new Comenity Bank CC that replaced the Barclay Bank CC is not that good of a deal anymore. I can't download my purchases into my Quicken account for one. Then it appears that we no longer get one point for each dollar purchase at locations other than Camping World (still a 5/1 ratio at CW)and camping locations ( still a 3/1 ratio for campgrounds). And I couldn't find where I can get a $50 credit for my campground charges. Am I wrong on these items?

  • There are much better travel cards that classify campgrounds as Travel, hence earning 2-3 pts per purchase. Plus, when you look at what the card actually gets you in terms of points to $ value it is less than some main stream rewards cards.

I prefer the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Barclays Arrival+ or American Express Blue Cash Preferred (6% on groceries!)
  • I'm not so worried about the details of the card (Only have one and didn't want any more) as I am the way this card showed up.

I just wanted to buy one widget at the new Camping World that opened up locally. First there was no sales person, then the one that showed up to help couldn't operated the system. The "apply for a credit card button showed up" which I answered no to. Then it seemed to go into a survey routine. He fussed for 10 minutes clicking and tapping before I could finally check out.

Two weeks later the card arrives. In this day and age of poor security the last thing I need is another credit card (or the credit check that must have happened) or a retail store that forces me to electronically review if I want one each time I shop. What's wrong with the verbal question everyone else uses.

To top it off all the phone numbers on the material that arrived didn't work. I had to call Good Sam who gave me a working number just to cancel.

I'm with Bombero, support your local business....

You got better than me. I only get the 3/1 at some campgrounds.

8/20 to 9/21 I made 3 CW purchases and got 5/1 once and 0/1 twice
    21 campground stays
    11 times I got 3/1 3 times I got 1/1 and 7 times I got 0/1

2 email & conversation with 5 Customer service people at Barkley, GS & Comenity ende3d up with me being told by GS that the problems were my fault and I needed to contact the campgrounds and tell them they need to change their Visa credit card registration.

The cover letter said that "all" rewards continue as before. If it turns out that we don't get the 1% on all purchases, I will stick it in the glove box and only use it at CW.

My wife was able (yesterday) to renew our Coast-to-Coast with rewards points. The person on the phone was competent and polite, although the first phone number she was given didn't work.

//we also pay it off each month//

Another "pay it off every month" CC user.

*VERY* easy to beat CW's prices elsewhere with the card of your choice.
Several (major) cards are offered with various rewards (incl the 1%).

    So.... why use Cemetery Bank??..:W..:B
