A few years ago, I considered red/blue could keep their relatively high prices because their quality was the best out there... but I am surprised at how well the competition is doing. I have had excellent performance from the Champion generator I have, where it worked through even through a hurricane.
Now, if I buy an inverter generator, $800 for a Champion or $750 for a Harbor Freight model is a lot more palatable than $2000 for a red/blue 3000 watt model. Plus, $1100 for a 3500 watt, dual-fuel generator is something neither red/blue has in their product line.
I respect red/blue, but yellow has pretty much come to par with both of them.
X2, and I own the Red. Jury is still out on the HB gennies, maybe they're OK.
The Champion line has a big following and good customer support from what I've read here. Have not read any negative about them in a lot of years on this forum.
Best deal I've seen so far is the Champion 3400 with remote start my daughter bought online for $999 delivered with no tax.
