New horn and Dashcam

I put a Wolo Badboy horn in my rig, I never liked the OEM horn and some guys here talked about the Badboy. I know here in California it is unlawful to have them mounted out of sight but I don't want to put it on the grill or bumper so behind the grill it went. I installed a relay and tapped the horn circuit for actuation. I left the OEM horn connected. It's sounds better with both horns connected.

I also bought a dashcam I read about on here and put it up high on the windshield. last weekend coming back home from a family camping trip with my DGS's Scout Troop a guy coming on the freeway didn't see ma and I couldn't pull over to the left or slow down due to traffic. I hit the horn lightly and he floored it and pulled in front of me.

I played back the recording of the incident and you should have seen the passenger's head snap around and look back when they heard the horn. I think this horn is loud enough to get someone's attention.

Sure glad I had the horn but hope I can in the future avoid those situations rather than rely on the horn, but I'm glad it's there.

  • I don't think I've used my horn but once in the last 8 years and that was an extension to my rage when an idiot pulled out in front of me causing me to lock them up on the MH. It actually had no positive effect on the situation other than to vent my frustration....the guy was already there, didn't cause him any reason to do anything different, done was done.

I have been guilty of honking it for kids giving me the honk signal and some rafters on the river parallel to the highway.
  • Glad it worked for you. Plus your right best to try to avoid situations rather then rely on the horn.

Last time I used my air horn on some guy coming onto the freeway, we were in the RGV winter of 2005/2006. I couldn't get over, hit the air horn, he did slow down, but then came around me honking his horn, flipped me off, pulled in front of me, slammed on his brakes, both driver and passenger flipped me off then took off. Decided after that no air horn. Just do my best to avoid the situations.
