I'll go with those that say if a friction sway bar is installed correctly it will not need to be removed when backing. In fact turning, either backward or forward, results in the same pressures put on the friction away bar! I too used one for a couple years and never removed it when backing.
But going back to the OP, the Blue Ox will not perform like a DC.
