Sorry Dodge Guy but until you actually tow with one everything you just stated is only opinion which you have every right to express. I am a Blue Ox convert and I can say it not only controls sway but also dampens the harshness of major road bumps. Those "bent" bars are designed to bend and that is part of "the secret sauce" that anyone who doesn't own one just cant't understand. BTW I am towing 8.5K that tows better than my 5.5K trailer did with my conventional WD hitch.
Another swag on how it works... :B
First, go back to one of the links in previous posts that has Ron's
graph showing how the forces change as the trailer moves off the TV
Center line
Bent bars is the key and the tilted head more to do with providing
more tension'ing distance for the bar/chain latch up
As the trailer sways or swings to one side, say the drivers side...it
will 'bend' the drivers side bar more. Bending it more requires more
force, to it will 'push' the trailer back
On the other side, it will straighten that bar and the way the Sway Pro
chain latch up mechanism has such a short amount of chain not captured
will have the chain pull on that sides bar
So there is a push/pull to get the trailer back in line with the TVs
center-line
There are more WD'ing going on when that one bar is bent more
