Very interested in this discussion because I'm considering making the jump from my EAZ Lift to Reese or Blue Ox. Every picture I've seen of the Blue Ox shows the bars as really bent, though. Is that normal? I've currently got 1400 lb bars, but thinking about upsizing because I'm not getting down to the recommended measurement on the front axle on this truck and I'm at 8 washers.
My neighbor has a Blue Ox and one of his bars "is" bent!
I still don`t see how it can control any sway? I know how they "claim" it does, but the design certainly doesn`t have any "sway control" built in! And if they are talking about where the bars pivot in the head, then they are kidding themselves and their customers! There is no way that it can control sway on a trailer, especially when you go into the heavier trailers!
Sorry Dodge Guy but until you actually tow with one everything you just stated is only opinion which you have every right to express. I am a Blue Ox convert and I can say it not only controls sway but also dampens the harshness of major road bumps. Those "bent" bars are designed to bend and that is part of "the secret sauce" that anyone who doesn't own one just cant't understand. BTW I am towing 8.5K that tows better than my 5.5K trailer did with my conventional WD hitch.
By bent I mean it is damaged! Because of the forces involved I can see how it happens. I don't need to tow with one to understand. I only need to understand physics......and the Blue Ox just doesn't deliver.
