Considering the OP is looking at a 8900 lb MAX trailer, the F150 Ecoboost would work well for him. Its got all the advantages of a Diesel (flat torque, little loss at altitude) with none of the added expense (fuel, maintenance, etc).
F150 towing 10k up the Ike Gauntlet It is a tow machine.
And as long as he gets the Max Tow and/or HD Payload he should be fine. Plenty of people tow larger trailers than that with their F150's. The key is staying within the #'s.
