trail-explorer is right. And not trying to sound "snotty", I am real surprised that anyone would pull or recommend pulling a travel trailer of any size w/o a weight dist. hitch set up. Whether or not it drops your vehicle 1" or 6" is not the issue. The weight is still on the rear axle and not evenly distributed across the tow vehicle. When you come across a large unexpected swoop, bump or ledge in the road at 60mph, you are bouncing your full tongue weight on the rear axle and at the same time is pulling your front axle up like a teeter totter. With a weight dist. hitch all (well, most-all) of the tongue weight slamming down on your tow vehicle is distributed to the front and rear axle of the tow rig. Please don't take my comments as if they are coming from an arrogant person. I worked in my dad's RV shop from a the time I was 11 years old and have been towing properly and improperly set up trailers since I was 16 years old. I have lot experience setting up a "good lash-up" and pulling time behind the wheel. The main thing to remember: I'ts not about how much it drops the rear springs, it's about distributing the weight for better/safer towing.
