You pretty much cannot register vehicles in a state different than your state of residency.
Several years ago folks registered a lot of expensive motorbikes in Oregon as owned by their LLC. Most got heavy fines and penalties when the ownership and usage were investigated and it was determined the RV was for personal use, not corporate use.
You might get away with out of state registration if the RV never comes into NC and none of the insurance or ownership documents show NC.
You still might get caught if ever stopped by a cop and he starts NC into investigating why you were driving a SD registered non-rental rv with a NC drivers license. States do look through driver citations for possibly registering out of state. Yes, a lot of folks get away with. And a lot get caught and fined heavily, plus having to pay back registration and sales tax.
While the discussion is about Texas registration requirements, the 'solution' discussed is a change of residency for full-timers who do not own any property in Yexas.
