You should see what I have to do just to get our TT backed in next to the house when we get home!
Best advise I ever got was years ago when the previous owner of our first trailer told me to go straight to a big empty parking lot and practice backing into parking spaces. I took that advice and it served me well.
Obviously, everyone's different. I happen to be a friendly outgoing type, and still today don't mind a bit when someone offers help. Just so happened last spring when we arrived at a state park. I started backing in, and before DW could even get out to spot, the guy next door runs over, stands directly behind my TT in line with my mirror and spots me perfectly. Did I trust him? Yup. I instantly noted that he was an older gentleman with a very nice truck/TT setup himself, and judged the situation. We enjoyed a great trip and shared coffee and conversation with our neighbors.
The bottom line is obviously that in offering help if you think it's needed (as did the OP), you can feel good knowing you did the right thing. I would never just sit back and watch if I saw someone struggling. If they refuse my help, so be it.
