Noisy kids, drunks, rude people, dog dung

Might as well it's winter and I'm bored :B. So we already have the barking dog thread. Let's get it out of our system. Did I miss any? What gets your goat?

You tell me yours I'll tell you mine
  • I bought a LED light strip specifically to be more discret. I can dim it to its lowest setting and make them red (which is easier on the eyes) it just puts a very dim glow just enough so I can see but really isn't nearly as noticeable as a large amber light or porch light.

Also I keep my outside speakers reasonable, so that others want gear them, if no one else is near my site, I turn them up more. I can't resist a little more volume for Pink Floyd if no one else is around.
  • As a Host I have found poo in the showers twice and picked up a record 58 cig butts outside one campfire ring (couldn't believe it and had to count them). Good thing we love our jobs.

You left out generators and porch lights.

The porch lights I can take, but some folks are just plum scared of the dark and should find some pastime that suits them better. If you have to light up your campsite like an airport runway all night you have a problem.
  • Oh, I'll gladly start my biggest 2 complaints.

    1) Kids in bathrooms .... opposite sex bathrooms and shower houses.

It's because of this my wife absolutely refuses to EVER use a shower house again. The last time she used a shower house, a couple women brought their boys into the shower house. We're not talking a 1 or 2 year old toddler, we're talking an 8 or 9 year old kid! That in itself wasn't so bad. What was bad, these brats were going to the shower stalls and pulling back the curtains. When the curtain at my wife's stall got pulled back, she yelled to the top of her lungs, and the kids mother thought it was just funny.

Come-on! Get real! I definitely understand how my wife feels and she will NEVER use a park facility again. She says, that's why we have a shower in the trailer and a toilet in the trailer for!

I agree. I've seen men bring their little girls into the shower. I'm standing there in front of the porcelain shrine, and in some cases, there's not even a divider between them, and there stands someone's little girl behind waiting on dad to finish. VERY, VERY uncomfortable!

I have since quit using camp facilities also for this same reason.

Gripe number 2: Cigarette butts left all over a campsite when the previous 'tenant' has left! That gripes my claw bigger than anything! It's nasty, disgusting, dirty, and RUDE to the next camper. I've picked up so damn many cigarette butts at campgrounds it's a wonder I haven't caught some kind of disease!

I AM NOT COMPLAINING about your right to smoke or not! I'M COMPLAINING ABOUT YOUR NASTY DISREGARD TO COMMON DECENCY! WHAT DO YOU THINK IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO THAT STUPID BUTT ON THE GROUND... DO YOU REALLY THINK A BIRD WILL COME ALONG AND EAT IT OR SOMETHING... NO! SOMEONE HAS TO PICK UP YOUR NASTY MESS!

Now... you want a good battle ... respond to these two issues!
  • People who rake up all the leaves on their campsite and burn them. People who leave barrels of empty beer cans sitting around the campsite. People who burn plastic in their fires, creating black smoke and stink.

Campgrounds that allow long-term renters to install shabby, makeshift porches of 2x4s and plastic sheeting, and to leave partially disassembled vehicles on concrete blocks.

Families that feel the need to yell at each other when they are feet away from each other. Old couples who look like they just plain hate each other and life in general.

    How's that?
