Non electric coffee pot

Hi,

I would certainly avoid aluminum pots.

Have you considered an inverter? My drip pot (4 cup) uses a scant 7 amp-hours do do a brew. That could easily be made up while driving with a decent charging path from the alternator.

We have a stainless coffee pot we love. Simple and works great. We didn't want glass due to the chance of breaking it.

I use a heavy stainless steel. By far better than other options. :B

In those circumstances, you can heat water on your stove and pour it thru the grounds to make hot fresh drip coffee using your electric coffee maker.

Stainless! Watch what type of handle.
Many glass pots have plastic handles that do not fair well around open flame.

Okay -- explain to me, responders, why NOT aluminum? We have 2....we don't know where we got the first one, but the 2nd I picked up at a garage sale for $.25. :) They work FINE and the coffee is hotter. And no, they do NOT cause Alzheimers!!!!

Hi,

Anodized aluminum is thought to be safer but still can add to the daily intake of the metal.

My objection is that the metal is too soft.

Further I prefer to use an induction cooker--which won't work with aluminum. Some stainless steel works just find with induction units.

As a side note, many coffee "whitener" products are loaded with aluminum. (and no, I don't use them either).
