You should put a dab of grease on that area and also on the opposite side at the top of the bar. Those are the two normal wear areas on the round bar hitch. What you have is not unusual. Just keep those parts greased and both the bars and hitch head should last for many years.
Without the use of grease on those areas, the bar will eventually wear into an oval shape and so will the bottom of the hitch head.
