Oh Boo Hoo

That's it. 2016 season is over. Had about the average 150 nights onboard but where did they all go?

Oh well, the trailer & the bull that pulls it are put away in a shed for at least 5 months. Actually this time it will more than likely be 8 months before we see them again.

Our world for the next 8 months will be all of 20 sq miles. That is all that Bermuda is.

Saving grace is that next May the Americas Cup yacht racing series really starts getting wound up & there will be plenty to see on the water.

Looking forward to that with great anticipation.
  • You had to come on here and gloat, didn't you? I would too if I was in your position! We put out camper away last weekend for 3 months until our February Florida trip. I still work full time, so I am lucky to get away for 45 nights a year.

Enjoy the island, I have never been but it is on the list. How is the weather in the winter over there? It constantly blows my mind that Bermuda is due east of the Carolinas...

Sorry about your boohoo. . . I think?

We live in Anacortes where the last 4 generations of AC boats were built for O/BMW and others. They used my conference room to design the first Dog-zilla with their French trimaran designers. The guy that was in charge of hull construction, whose wife worked as an architect for me, gave us amazing access, and the project manager for the project lived next door to us (and is now building the new wings in NZ). We got an intimate look at the entire process, and traveled to Valencia and SF to watch racing with special access. Larry E had the best tapas, cava, and toilets in Valencia.

Unfortunately I'm not a fan of the new format. It seems like the current AC format is like racing on a NASCAR oval rather than the need for racers to deal with the variances of wind, waves and current. I've raced over 35k miles, and my sailing partner has, and will be in Bermuda for the racing, and does not agree with my position.

    Enjoy the spectacle.
