I had occasion to look at the power demands of a rural cell tower. It was using 1 KWH every 9 seconds. I don't know how many batteries they put in a bank for the towers nor do I know how long they expect the tower to remain powered.

I do have 4 for a 20 hour rate of 556 amp-hours and they laugh at the microwave. My particular unit draws 1530 watts.

I've had mine a year now and I use them HARD. The very best thing is no more laying in the snow to check electrolyte levels.

Hah! Just noticed (above) my grumbling mis-post in the wrong thread. Muchos apologies.

The 100-hour rate of Telecomm batteries is wildly better than in a similar 20 ampere hour rated non-telcomm battery. This is why (down here) they gang 20 - 30- 40 batteries in crucial microwave repeaters)

Mr Wizard you have without question the best battery choice for low amperage discharges. Worth remembering is......enough of these puppies in parallel will fire a microwave but the weight may be quite a penalty.

fully charging batteries everyday of use, makes a significant difference
in batteries maintaining voltage

today was battery maintenance day
get the pliers and wrench, make sure all the cables are tight
get out the big brush, and dust off the batteries
No rust, no corrosion, no added water :)

it was more work lubing the sliding tray, which is getting due for replacement

Don't think I have ever seen voltage less than 12.6v 'at rest' AKA minimal load
Of course I'm running on memory, the might be a post in this thread that would run counter to that statement
Yes it does go to less than that while running the mw for coffee in the morning

between midnight and 8AM ,one 12v LED kitchen night light approx 7w and the fridge
no fans, no PC etc.

consumed power was 28 amphrs, according to the DC power meter
that amounts to 3.5 ampHr per hour and a combined ? duty cycle of approx 35 percent

600MA for the 7w night light = 4.8ampHr
so 22.2 ampHrs for the fridge, 2.775 amphrs per hr or 27.75 percent duty cycle ?

if i'm doing the math correctly

this based on a 10amp draw while running, at the end of cycle its closer to 8.5~9 amps just before cycling off a tapered draw, including that would probably raise the duty cycle another 1 percent or so, not the amphrs, just the actual run time percent
