How people can brag or argue or bitsch about a couple bucks a year is beyond me. Do you only eat beans and rice or do you eat steak and not change your oil? Who the f cares?

Well I for one do, you can change your oil every 5,000 miles and take it to the auto parts store to recycle. I simply place a small plastic vial in the drain stream while changing. I then fill out the form with the unit number, mileage and other information. Now days I can drop the container in any mail box as postage is prepaid.
What do I get that you don't have a clue about? Metals contamination, are my rings or bearings wearing too fast. Fuel dilution is my oil being thinned by fuel? Antifreeze in oil, is a head gasket failing?
I get a peek at that engine health every 10,000 miles, or right now six months. It is saving the cost of an oil change, it is using the earths resources wisely. Dino oil hasn't changed the additive packages have.

I 100% completely agree with what several people have said, and what I alluded to in my first post on this subject... This really is an individual choice. Go with what works best for you, your situation, and your objectives.

There is a cheaper oil change analysis. Put a drop on your finger. If it is starting to turn brown it needs changed. If it is black you've waited too long. I know this is not scientific but it is better than going by mileage only. If you live in the deep south or way north your oil is subject to extreme temperatures and needs changed more often.

I'm personally a fan of the OLM system, obviously others are not. I have a couple gas engines in my personal fleet with 280K, no oil burning. Both got oil changes when the computer said so. YMMV

If you really don't care, why the huge rant? Skip the thread and move on with your life. The people who do check their oil like the warm fuzzies it gives them, I do anyway. And guess what? I'm going to continue to do it regardless of how foolish you consider it. I think you're wise to put friends in quotations.

I don't ever say my oil brand used, change method, time interval or mileage is best. I simply show the results of what i do and others can glean what they may from it.

BTW, I don't "CHEW" so I have lots of money to do my oil analysis. :B

Here is every oil change since new on my 2015 6.7 Cummins. I use AMZ/OIL 15-40 Signature Series and FleetGuard Stratapore filter.

Universal Averages are based on around 6k changes. Note he said I could go longer than 15k if I so choose after warranty!
