If your 6 gallon water heater is only giving you a 2 minute shower there is something wrong with it. After all you don't use only hot water you mix it with cold. If I only used only the hot water from my campers water heater during a shower I would get burned and have to go to the hospital. But, I can't say how long of a shower I can go because I have never timed it.
To answer the OP question I have used both. It depends on how nice the CG's shower is. The one in my 20 foot TT is quite small and I don't always want to add all that heat and moister into the air inside of the TT on some days in certain weather. But, I use it now and then. It works OK for what it is.
