It's interesting reading some of the comments, as my work is just about opposite of most people's. I am a field support rep, but my department also staffs the "office" support line. I'm on the road most days, and handle all the calls I receive from my region along with what I have planned for the day. We take turns on the support line, and it baffles people that call in that I am not at the office, but at home, and no I can't run out on the production floor to find someone. So I wouldn't go camping while taking my turn on call, but it just depends on your situation and required response time.
