I was a Human Resource Manager for 9 years, and I still use the sample letters on the volconus link, and adjusted them as I gained experience.

Keep in mind that a lot of agencies have volunteer managers/coordinators as an additional duty. You may/may not get a response. If they are interested, they will contact you.

Don't take not being contacted personal. Keep applying for locations.

Also, if there is a location you are interest in, and they do not have a vacancy announcement, you can do a search, contact them directly by telephone to let them know your interest.

Thanks for the nice comments. We look forward to each new NPS location. We meet a lot of nice folks volunteering. ANDE will be a special location due to its historic somber significance and current use as an active national cemetary. We look forward to meeting you while at ANDE February to May.

I am excited you are going to be in my neighborhood. I grew up just a very few miles from there and still am less than an hour away. I was last there for the funeral of an WW2 vet uncle. It is a very humbling place. The museum is especially sobering.

As a Vietnam War Veteran, I'm sure it will be more sobering, I hope not haunting. It is hard to walk away from these type of locations and not be affected by the impact of what they represent.

Well said and yes they have done a very nice work there creating a hallowed place to consider the plight of war on humanity.

As a Vietnam War Veteran, I'm sure it will be more sobering, I hope not haunting. It is hard to walk away from these type of locations and not be affected by the impact of what they represent.
