Yep, actions like this were called "I'm taking my ball and going home" when we were children. We you read things like "the thread went bad real fast" that means the other posters didn't agree with them. As an FYI, if you want to delete one of your own posts, just edit that post to "blank". No need to involve Moderators, Administrators or any other one else. You can fix your own mistakes.

There is a big difference between constructive responses and bashing, not the topic, the individual. The topic turned ugly, not what I wanted. There's a big difference here.

IMHO it's the same reason continue to argue vehemently by coming up with reasons / excuse / situations where they MIGHT be right, even after being proven wrong.

I'm sure you've all seen the "What do you mean it's illegal? I've been doing it for years, no problem!" type arguments.

98% of the people only read the 'subject line" in the index and then the 'last' post on the thread and then post their reply.

A few months ago,I asked for opinions on Lance trailers.The tread was only 2 pages and I was looking for more responses when it was closed.I asked the mod why they closed it and was told they thought I had all the information I needed. I sure didn't feel that way.

I wouldn't fret too much about the rules here, and posts getting closed. It ain't the end of the world.

Heck, if you publish something bad about certain religions you might get murdered by terrorists. You gotta put things in perspective and just roll on.

1st amendment means that the government cannot force me to practice a religion... it never was intended to RESTRICT the practice of religion or the celebration of religion. Its funny that very few people have a problem with getting holiday pay or holiday leave on Christmas... but heaven forbid you actually celebrate the true reason for the day.

I'm not sure that we are discussing religion here. My question to the guy was how is a manger considered evil in his mind? That isn't religious, that is a specific question.

The way I see it, it falls under one of two categories;
#1 You believe that Christ is your Lord and savior and you are honored to glorify Him. You view the manger as a symbol of the glory of God.

#2 You think that Christ was some carpenter who died 2000 years ago and don't think he is anything special. You view the manger as nothing more than political poster that is perfectly legal to place on public right of way.

I don't understand how a religious symbol that you don't believe in can cause so much hatred as to refer to it as EVIL...

And that's why threads get locked down.

The rules here are clear:
"Political and religious posts, pictures, links, signatures etc. are not allowed in these forums and may be removed without notice or discussion."

To be clear I'm not at all offended by either of the quoted posters. But these things always go downhill once the rule is breached.

That is not a 'dumb question'......just a 'stupid response' either due to poor comprehension skills OR more likely they chose not to read post(s)
