- pianotunaNomad IIIThe technology exists to have a solar system do everything a generator can do. Last time I listened to my panels they made no noise at all.

I love hearing the Honda people claim facts about something they have no idea about. I have the Champion 3100 model number 75531i and yes IT will run a 15K AC AND it will do it at approx. 50% RPM in economy mode. I have ran the AC, coffee pot and microwave all at the same time just to see and it didn't skip a beat.
There are three of us at our races that all run the exact same model and none have had not one issue with any of them. Fuel tank size is the ONLY negative. Highly recommend and suggest Amazon for best price.
I feel the same way about you guys and Champion. I agree with every good thing about the Champions- except for the fact that all the Champion owners seem to emphasize it being as quiet as the Honda 2000. Just my personal opinion, but the Champion IS NOT AS QUIET AS THE HONDA. PERIOD. - CampingN_C_ExplorerI love hearing the Honda people claim facts about something they have no idea about. 1) My 3100 Inverter runs my 15K A/C just fine. Even in econo mode.
2) It's 58db is same as Honda.
3) You can DIY add an extended run kit if you want to make fueling easier.
4) The 3400 Inverter is a 192cc engine vs. the 171cc on the 3100, its 110# vs 84#, I can't tell in physical size difference.
Champion offers their RV Inverter's in the new 3400 electric start, the still popular and often on sale 3100 manual start, the 3100 electric remote start and last years new version a Dual Fuel version that rates at 2800 on Propane and 3100 on Gas.
I think they are great and continue to recommend to friends. - aguablancoExplorerMy Champion 3100 does have EcoMode.

thankyou all for your opinions. Honda, just cant afford. Again thankyou all.
You don't need the Honda. The ones complaining about the noise on the Champion are misinformed. They have the same db level at the rated capacity. One could argue the Honda is quieter in eco mode but if you are running the air or any higher power device the Honda will be running full rpms and have the same noise level. I am not sure if the Champion has the "eco" feature or is a fixed rpm generator. - aguablancoExplorerI honestly believe that,at least a few, Honda owners beat up Champions so as to justify their own purchase of a generator that costs more than twice as much as the Champions with little to any noise differential. Having just come back from an event where many different brand generators were running I personally couldn't tell a difference in noise levels between my Champion and the Hondas or Yamahas. I could tell you how much more money was in my money clip. Buy what you like and let others do the same without berating their choices.
RichH - Vette_RacerExplorerChampion 3400 electric/remote start, quiet as the Honda 2k, runs a bunch more including 15k air. Ran it as needed all winter boondocking, no issues. Just leave it in the truck bed to solve the problem of weight.

Someone mentioned the 3100 for under $600, but I doubt it will run a 15k AC.
Install a hard start kit on the A/C.phillyg wrote:
Wait, I do have a complaint. The oil drain path does not allow for a neat oil change.
Pretty common on all generators with exterior plastic covers.
Anyone ever try a Form-A-FunnelForm-A-Funnel ?
