Some ppl will do or say anything to make up for the dumb animal attacking other living things.
The rabid dog is the primary object to keep in immediate perspective. Drop the dog, by whatever means necessary, then deal with the rabid owner. in that order! ;)
I had to pull my hunting knife when some ppl's dog was in a full on charge on me during a jog on a public street. The crazed owners were horrified that I would defend myself in such a situation to the point of hurling threats at me. I then had to be ready for them to attack next.
