Wow, didn't know that staples were still used for knee surgery, on my TKR three years ago there were no staples used. Don't know if they glued the incision or used cat gut or something else; but never had to get anything removed later.
That's what they used on me last month plus, I think they super glued the incision, as they have on the last two or three surgeries. Didn't leak and blood. Of course they had a quarter inch piece of tubing above my knee that drained two quarts, guestimate, in two days right after surgery.
If it had not been for the nerve block and morphine drip, might not have been able to tolerate the pain. Still had a few bad words when I was moved the wrong way, after second day and block wore off. Still taking the pain meds but after a month and 8 days it starting to not hurt so much. I've heard many and the Doctors etc say 6 months and complete recovery might take up to a year. Have just about full range of motion but every time knee pops and it pops a lot, it induces pain.
The swelling causes pain and have to take pressure stockings off in middle of night. Been cautioned time and again to keep them on all the time except for an hour per day.
