Parking in MIL's driveway - solved

My MIL lives a day's drive away and we like to visit her at least twice a year. She has a steep driveway and we wanted to park our B on it while visiting - sleeping in it and keeping the fridge running.

We figured out how high it had to go using the phone and geometry. With the van parked where it would sit - used the phone and Bubble Level app to get the degrees of slope. Measured the wheelbase, then used angle-side-angle to figure out how high the front had to go. 13 1/2 inches.

We made these ramps and leave them in her garage. They work perfectly - the van just looks pretty weird from the front. People would double and triple take as they went by...

  • Looks good.

I can't tell from the pic, but I'm assuming you had wheel chocks in front of AND behind at least one of the rear wheels? If not, I'd pick some up. No, I don't trust Parking Brakes! LOL

  • "Necessity IS the mother of invention!" Looks good! It's nice you can keep them at the MIL's house. I can see why folks passing by would do a double take.

I can imagine your wife's mother is really glad you and your wife can spend time with her. We did the same thing with my MIL, except we parked our TT in their barn lot and plugged into the barn. It was nice having our own space to get away to at the end of the day, and yet still be right there.
