Patio Lighting

We use a Coleman Dual Fuel Lantern $60 http://amzn.com/B0009PUR2M

It puts out a lot of light and it is cheap to fuel it up. 50 cents for 7 hours on high. No cords and it is great warm light.

For ambient light we have used an oldfashioned kerosene lantern for years.

I want a bucket light. I don't know why. Just want to make one & have one. Till I find a round tooit it will stay on my ummm....well....bucket list.

Lost of interesting ideas!

My initial attempts were interrupted by several days of rain and then pulling a muscle in my back - sigh...

I did find out a few things in the nasty weather:
Solar lamps don't work well on rainy days (well duh!)
A five foot lightweight PVC "tower" must be staked or have a heavy base.
A five foot lightweight PVC "tower" acts like a catapult when it falls.
(The solar light didn't quite make it over the fence behind us).
My best location on this site for a "floor lamp" is in a puddle.

Being unconvinced, and y'all made some good arguments for it, that 120Vs and wet places isn't scary, I'm now looking at 12V powered lighting. Wally World had some LED "driving lights" for $20 that might be bright enuf (but $20???).

Today is sunny so I must do awning waterproofing (something else I found out in the nasty weather).

I use (Table In A Bag) commercial lighting. 15 light 11 watt bulb 48' long. It's like you would see at an Italian restaurant.

Several interesting ideas. You've inspired me. Here are a couple of pics of my first efforts. The light is an old solar spot light. It works but it is way too weak.

I'm not understanding the no-120v thing...those outdoor floor lamps that are so spendy are 120v, though evidently "outdoor approved", whatever that means. So are christmas lights, which it suddenly occurs to me might be something to consider since they'd also be decorative.

Maybe we could get some folks to post pictures of what they use.
