Patio Mats

What are the most durable Patio Mats? We have the "Solid Steps" and they stick out so far when down that our patio mat is underneath the steps. The two feet on the bottom have ripped through the standard polypropylene mat we bought on Amazon. It's the same quality as those sold at Walmart and Camping World. The mat isn't more than 3/16" thick. Even the feet on camping chairs have caused indents and stretching. There's no tears there but the weave has separated so there's now holes in the mat. This isn't from rough use either. Just normal sitting and relaxing and general movement in the chairs! By the time an hour has gone by, the mat is permanently marred or a new hole is created. I'm interested in something more durable and thicker. Does anyone have a mat that stands up to being used at places other than a concrete patio where it isn't really necessary in the first place?

Have you ever seen the grass below a patio mat after it is taken up..

2 weeks it's yellow and may or may not recover

Two months there is not any.

I gave aweay my patio mat.
  • Another option would be to put something additional under the steps where they rest on the mat. Maybe a pair of regular house door mats to take the weight and pressure of the steps.

I think I bought mine at rvmats.com but that was about 20 yrs ago, no tears or rips and looks like the day I bought it and we use it every time we go camping.

Unfortunately that website no longer exists. I would be happy with getting 3 years from a mat rather than 3 camping trips!
