If you want to get the hitch setup as close as you can, then set up the hitch while you're there. It really shouldn't take that long.
Hopefully there will be a flat level hard area nearby for you to park on and take your measurements. If you're in a hurry getting the front ride height at least halfway back to "unloaded" should be good enough to get you home.
