- rockhillmanorExplorer IIBoy, what a bunch of cranky hanky's.
The op puts up a projection of the race on HIS OWN camper and you'all are having hissy fits about it?
I've seen scare lights left on all night that are 100x brighter than that, AND they have them on BOTH sides of their RV!
And everyone seems to have a problem with a group of campers enjoying themselves with fellow campers watching the race together? :S If you want to camp in TOTAL peace and quiet, solitude and in total darkness, stay home or boondock somewhere.
To the OP: Cool idea. Great picture thanks for sharing looks like all the campers that attended were having a good time. :C - deleted-2ExplorerAlways thot it would be cool to sit and watch a movie on the big screen out on the desert.
Just me the wifey and every flying insect inside a 5 mile radius. - DyngbldExplorerI'd camp next to you CM! I would provide beer to anyone nearby if I did this. I am a fan of quiet in campgrounds, and keep my crew quiet all the time, but NASCAR is NASCAR it must be watched! I often miss the race if we are campering for the weekend.
- dan-nickieExplorerVery Cool.
Park next to me anytime. :)
I have the outside entertainment center and we always watch Nascar. - CincyGusExplorer II

Not my cup of tea but with the popularity of outdoor entertainment centers it's just going to get more common, as long as one is inside the CG's rules and reasonably considerate of the neighbors, go for it. If it really bothers me, which it might, I'm in an rv and can roll up the awning and leave. Would probably be better off going over introducing yourself and joining in though. Now if the Cornhuskers game was on leaving would not be an option.
Exactly.
I go camping to watch the stars, sit around the campfire, enjoy nature, have a few brown pops with friends (sometimes I bring my own friends, sometimes I venture out and make some). As long as it's relatively quiet once quiet hours commence, I've got no heartburn with it. It's not my thing but I'm not King of any campgrounds and as long as people are not breaking the rules, I don't have any place to tell them how to enjoy their camping trip.
Depending on what they were showing, there may be times, if I were invited, I might even join them. Big events like the Superbowl, World Series, March Madness, favorite team's game, Nascar race, I could see where at times, it could draw a crowd.
As a Sgt. in a movie once said, "Lighten up, Francis" :D - longislandcampeExplorer

What type of projector and equipment do you recommend? That just looks like a blast and I want to do it!
I used to own an entertainment company and I used to show music videos and photo slideshows using the projector and a 5x7 folding screen. I really can't comment on any specific details though, sorry. - qtla9111NomadI love boondocking.

Lots of negativity as usual here.
Valid point- BUT, for many folks, camping is a back-to-nature thing and an LCD projector showing a NASCAR race kind of spoils an evening walk to gaze at stars, campfires and weenie roasts.
Yeah, maybe some folks are overly judgemental, but on the other hand, I'm not sure this belongs in a woodsy, natural-area type campground. Somehow it's more OK when the TV is on the inside and not 8 ft wide.
Of course, was this on the infield of a track, or an RV park near a track? In that case, it's a totally different situation.
No flames at the OP- but if it was a "nature-oriented" campground I'm thinking "Yuck!" - PadlinExplorerNot my cup of tea but with the popularity of outdoor entertainment centers it's just going to get more common, as long as one is inside the CG's rules and reasonably considerate of the neighbors, go for it.
