Does anyone else do something like this?
Not me. I don't even use the TV. - opnspacesNavigator IIII show movies in the front yard at home, but I haven't tried it when camping.I'm not a big sports fan, so i wouldn't show a game or NASCAR, but I can understand why someone might want to.
The thing that always holds me back from showing a movie is that I'm concerned about the mixed audience in a campground. Since I know there will be young children I feel that I really can't in good conscience show anything more than a G rated movie. That doesn't leave that many movies that my kids haven't seen 1,000 times. So I just decided to not do it.
But I may still do it on one of my desert trips when I don't really have any neighbors to worry about. :)
To the OP, Are you standing on sand in that picture and is it on a beach? That seems like it would be a really cool as my kids like to just dig holes in the desert sand. Of course I'm not going to drag my trailer all the way over there. :B - TOOBOLDExplorerYes, we do this only when the Techy comes along. The only difference is we use a white fitted sheet over the slide. I recommend going to Goodwill for a cheap one.
For the record we did this in Bryce Canyon at Ruby's. We talked to the neighbor's before hand a couple actually joined us and brought popcorn. Feature film was Transformers. - Ski_Pro_3ExplorerYes, I'm a grouchy old man, if that means I expected some etiquette and respect from fellow campers in a shared campground.
Why people go all the way out to the wilderness and woods to watch a movie when there's all of creation to enjoy is just beyond my comprehension. - Robin1953Explorer

Sounds like grouches. Maybe some of them should stay home. Campgrounds are for everyone. What they do within reason in a cililized manner should not bother most people.
...and there in lies the problem with some campers...lack of respect for other campers in the same vicinity as themselves...I see this happen alot for the "seasonal" campers who only come out 3 times a year (including this weekend) and ruin it for others...main reason I gave up camping on the holidays
I love it when they get rowdy...LOL I was at Beach Fork State Park a couple of years ago for the fourth of July and the kids had a great time. In fact the park rangers setup a slip and slide right across the lane from my camper. It was great to see the kids enjoying themselves. Sure some of the adults get a little more alcohol in them then they should at times but as long as they are just making noise and not harming anyone nor themselves to me it is no big deal. The rangers were around and packed anyone that had WAY to much to drink back to the campers and you never heard them again. I have read many posts where people say they do not go out on holiday weekends. It just seems like to me that they are letting a lot of life slip by them. BUT it is their choice and it doesn't bother me either. JMO - Robin1953Explorer

Great set up, I love it! Id be over there in a heartbeat. Do you serve popcorn with your movies? lol
I have to say that I fully expected all the regulars to chime in on their displeasure with this type of exterior entertainment..... you cant please everyone all of the time.....you can park next to me anytime.
I love watching Rev. Peter Popoff on the side of my RV. He's my favorite faith healer. Nothing like listening to his emotional plea for salvation through my Bose 901s. I have a 1500 watt surround sound, so I can always hear my evangalist over your racing.
I love the Bose 901s! Did you suspend them from a tripod as Amar suggests? LOL - Robin1953Explorer

What CG is that? Looks like Shinnecock. Judging by the pic looks like you got 2 sites?
I think it's an awesome idea and I'll bet you've made a lot of friends like that. Key is to be respectful of the neighbors, make the image smaller if too bright and turn it down if too loud. The real problem is that some folks after a few beers think the whole CG wants to watch the race...
I have seen that at the seasonal campground I stay at. The neighbors right behind me setup the screen and everything. They invited me over but being munched on by the bugs isn't for me...lol When I got ready to go to bed I simply went to bed and turned on the A/C and slept like a baby. Game showings are quite frequent here as well especially when WVU is playing. Sometimes they get a little rowdy but heck they are weekend warriors and they deserve to blow off a little steam every now and then. JMO - JN_BExplorerwe do it quite regularily.. but it's on the 40" external TV on my parents DP, it's movie night.. We make sure it doesn't disturb others (sound and picture), and it's usually done before dark.
The only other time we have it on is to watch some football games, and then there starts to be wanderers that end up stopping in to watch the game. - D___MExplorer

Yes, quite often, and it always seems that the little crowds that show up enjoy themselves. A lot of parents seem to be doing this for their kids and the other little ceumb snatchers in the CG, showing cartoons or Disney movies. Good for them. But next time, get a scren. The logo-in-the-picture is kind of tacky LOL.
Maybe some of the grouchy old folks that want to hate on NASCAR and other sports events, and want to control what others do, should try things like this.
And save sending me rules and regulations from a thousand different campground. They all read the same and I have been reading them for over twenty years. I don't think I can rmember when my RV neighbors did something that upset me so much that I had to whine about it to the world. All I can say is that if you don't like it, don't look.
Reading the rules for over 20 years is one thing. Understanding that your not above them is another......
Interesting. Ok Sir, from looking at a picture, which rule was the guy with the picture projected on his rig violating? Too lloud? Na, no way to measure decibles. After hours noise violation? Can't tell, no clock. Poor dresser? Maybe, with the backwards hat thing going on. But poor dressinf is not a cmapground rule. Since you weren't there I guess you reallly don't understand what was going on there.
How's that for understanding enough?
