- cochise49ExplorerIve used a good heavy cord with no problems. Then I discovered that If water was available, I could just keep the on board fresh water tank filled/refilled and draw from it. No hose plus electric cord laying around outside. Still might have to put a small elec heater or light bulb in compartment near water pump depending on the location. Had the pump freeze before I did that. No damage, just no water until it thawed. No more after the heater in utility compartment.
- GaPeteExplorerMine has been on extension cord for a year, no problems. Just be sure you prevent moisture entry that might trip the circuit and let it freeze. I use electrical tape on the plugs.
- deltamasterExplorerI think they write that on the box to cover themselves should someone use an inadequately rated extension cord and start a fire. If they try to sue the manufacturer then the manufacturer refers back to the instructions and notes that the user violated the instructions.
I would suggest getting a GOOD outdoor extension cord and monitor for heat periodically and you will be fine.
